Original oil on canvas, 150cm x 100cm. I find birds of prey excellent subjects due to their majestic intensity. I deliberately avoided a conventional rendering so to focus solely on the bird’s predatory power. I chose to paint the osprey particularly because of its long but recently-optimistic history within the UK: from total extinction to successful reintroduction.
